The village of Positano was founded around a Benedictine Abbey around the X century. When it obtained the independency it became a florid commercial pole and was in competition with the nearby Amalfitan Republic, until the Norman conquest in the second half of the XI century. Its decline then started.

Nowadays Positano is one of the most organized tourist resort worldwide. From the sixties, many famous people and artists started to settle here and after centuries of abandonment, with the tourism ans the artists, a new phenomenon started: the Moda Positano, i.e. Positano's fashion.
Many tailors became the fulcrum of the economy and increases the interest in the area. Shops like Rino or Maria Lampo, famous for the fastness of the delivery of her clothes are still doing great business.

Another famous tailor was Rachele Talamo that started a new dresses cult: the pezze.
She purchased lots of fabric of different colors and style and put it together; buyers were curios of this new style and made it become famous after the years until the nineties when the imitation of the method.
Positano in the eighties was one of the richest area of the country bringing the pro-capitol income the highest in Italy.

Staying in our b&b in the Amalfi coast, you can reach Positano within 10 minutes by car or by 15 minutes with the local bus.
